Timmy Patterson has a long and storied family legacy in Southern California surf culture. As part of the progressive surf scene through the 60s, Timmy’s father Ronald, and uncles (Bobby and Raymond) established their reputation in the water and at the famed Hobie Surfboards factory each with their own area of expertise, shaping, laminating, and glossing. Timmy started where all groms start, cleaning up foam dust.

Over the years Patterson was exposed to world class surfers from around the globe, all of whom eventually pass through Southern California. But it was during the 90’s when Patterson secured his own reputation, as a new style of surfing was evolving. Patterson’s home base of San Clemente gave him direct access to the Fletcher brothers, Matt Archbold, and Chris Ward, all of whom would test his designs on a range of waves from sloppy T-Street to high performance Lowers. Pat O’Connell would further advance Patterson’s global exposure, riding his board designs to top 10 finishes on the World Championship Tour. The tradition carries on today underfoot of current WCT’er Italo Ferreira.

While Patterson is well-respected for a variety of designs, US Blanks is proud to utilize his talent to design our “P” range of shortboard blanks; among them, the 5’9” P, 6’0” P, 6’2” P, 6’7” P, and the 6’8” P.
